Edinburgh is one of the UK's most EV-friendly cities, thanks largely to ChargePlace Scotland — the government-backed network that has placed public chargers throughout the capital, many of them free to use. For hotel EV charging, the city is well-served and getting better.
Edinburgh's EV Infrastructure
The city has charging points concentrated around:
- The Royal Mile and Old Town — useful for city-centre hotel guests
- New Town and George Street — several hotels with basement or car park charging
- Leith and Portobello — growing rapidly as these areas develop
- Edinburgh Park (near the airport) — a major hub for rapid charging
Best Neighbourhoods for EV Hotels
New Town
The Georgian heartland of Edinburgh. Premium hotels with excellent facilities, and many have added EV charging to their car parks. The ideal base for a city break.
Stockbridge
Just north of the New Town, with some lovely boutique hotels and growing EV provision. A more residential, local feel — great for longer stays.
Leith (The Shore)
Edinburgh's waterfront neighbourhood. Modern hotel developments here have EV charging as standard. Excellent restaurants within walking distance.
