Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest, and the good news for EV drivers is that the A8 and M9 corridors connecting it to the city and beyond are reasonably well-served by public charging. Hotels near the airport, particularly around Newbridge, Ingliston, and South Queensferry, have been adding EV charging capacity steadily.
Best Areas to Stay
Newbridge and Ingliston
The closest hotels to the terminals. Practical, no-frills options ideal for early departures. Charging facilities here are functional if not exciting — mostly 7kW AC, which is fine for overnight.
South Queensferry
A more scenic option, just off the Forth Road Bridge. You're paying for the views, but the hotels here tend to be higher quality and several have good EV facilities. Worth the 15-minute drive to the airport.
Edinburgh West (Corstorphine, Murrayfield)
If you want to be close to the city as well as the airport, the western suburbs offer a middle ground. Good tram connections to the airport make this viable.
Charging labels on Sento
Stays on Sento are labelled charging on-site, charging nearby or standard — confirm charging with the property or a live charging map such as Zapmap before you travel. A Sento Charging Promise is coming soon.
Scottish EV Charging: What to Know
Scotland actually has one of the better public charging networks in the UK, thanks to ChargePlace Scotland — a government-backed network with hundreds of points across the country. Many are free to use, though speeds vary. The network around Edinburgh is dense and reliable.
