The Northumberland coast is England's most undiscovered gem — miles of empty beaches, medieval castles, and the Farne Islands. It's also a great EV destination.
Charging on the Northumberland Coast
Charging is less dense than further south, but key towns have provision:
- Alnwick — the main Northumberland market town, good public charging
- Berwick-upon-Tweed — northernmost English town, some public chargers
- Amble and Warkworth — limited but growing
- Bamburgh — some public charging near the castle
The A1 northbound through Northumberland has services at Morpeth and Alnwick areas with charging.
Classic Route
Newcastle → Alnwick → Bamburgh → Holy Island (causeway check times!) → Berwick → back via A697. Around 150 miles total.
