The Peak District sits at the heart of England — within an hour's drive of Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, and Derby. It's the UK's most visited National Park, and EV infrastructure on its edges is solid.
Charging in and Around the Peak District
The Peak District itself is patchy — plan your charging around the market towns on the edges:
- Buxton — the natural northern base, some public charging
- Bakewell — famous for puddings, growing EV provision
- Matlock — eastern gateway, solid charging
- Leek — northwestern gateway
Sheffield, Manchester, and Derby all have excellent charging if you want to base yourself outside the park and drive in.
Best Routes
The Limestone Way: Buxton → Bakewell → Chatsworth → Baslow → Eyam → Hope Valley → Castleton. Around 60 miles. Stunning.
Eastern Moors: Sheffield → Curbar → Froggatt → Hathersage → Hope. Around 40 miles from Sheffield.
