The Porsche Taycan is one of the UK's most desirable EVs — and, thanks to its 800V architecture, one of the fastest-charging. Here's how to get the most from it.
Taycan Charging Specs
- DC ultra-rapid: up to 270kW
- AC: up to 11kW (3-phase)
- Range: around 280–310 miles (Taycan 4S, real-world UK)
Ultra-Rapid Charging in Practice
The Taycan's 800V system means it can charge at 270kW — adding around 100 miles in just 15 minutes at a compatible ultra-rapid charger. The challenge is that very few UK chargers deliver this level of power.
Best options for ultra-rapid Taycan charging:
- Gridserve Electric Highway — select sites have 150–300kW chargers
- Osprey's newest hubs — increasing numbers of 150kW+ chargers
For most UK journeys, you'll be charging at 150kW or less — still impressively fast.

Hotel Charging
For Taycan owners staying overnight, 11kW AC charging from 20% to 100% takes around 9 hours. Stays on Sento are labelled charging on-site, charging nearby or standard — confirm charging with the property or a live charging map such as Zapmap before you travel. A Sento Charging Promise is coming soon.
