The Renault Zoe is one of the UK's most established EVs — a compact, affordable city car that's been around since 2013. Its charging setup is a little different to newer EVs, and worth understanding.
Zoe Charging Specs (R135 / latest gen)
- DC rapid (CCS): up to 50kW
- AC: up to 22kW (3-phase, Chameleon charger)
- Range: around 210–230 miles (real-world UK)
The Zoe's 22kW AC Advantage
The Zoe's Chameleon charger is genuinely unusual — it can accept up to 22kW AC on 3-phase connections, which means it can fully charge in around 2.5 hours at a compatible public charger. Most public Type 2 chargers are 7kW or 22kW, and the Zoe makes full use of the 22kW option.
At hotels with 7kW charging, the Zoe charges fully in around 5–6 hours. Still a solid overnight charge.

Best Networks
For DC rapid charging, 50kW is the Zoe's limit — which is fine but means newer ultra-rapid sites aren't much benefit. Standard 50kW rapid chargers at BP Pulse, Gridserve and others are ideal.
Sento and the Zoe
Stays on Sento are labelled charging on-site, charging nearby or standard — confirm charging with the property or a live charging map such as Zapmap before you travel. For Zoe owners, knowing whether a hotel has a 7kW or 22kW connection makes a real difference. A Sento Charging Promise is coming soon.
